Russell Brand to be Jack Sparrow's brother?

"RUSSELL Brand is thrashing out a deal to appear in Pirates of The Caribbean 4 — as Captain Jack Sparrow’s brother.
The deal to play Jonathan, younger brother of Johnny Depp’s character, could be worth £5million.
It would catapult Brand, 33, into the Hollywood A-list less than a week after resigning from his Radio 2 show over the Andrew Sachs phone row involving him and Jonathan Ross.
A source said: “There couldn’t be a role more perfectly suited. There’s a lot of Jack Sparrow in his mannerisms and behaviour. Depp’s accent isn’t a million miles away from Russell’s either.
“Russell joining the Sparrows alongside Johnny and Keith Richards as their dad will complete the ultimate on-screen pirate family.”
Brand, based in Los Angeles for the next few months working on new films and a Comedy Central special, has already formed a close relationship with Disney.
In his first US theatre show since the Radio 2 scandal, he took a swipe at Sachs’s granddaughter, burlesque dancer and model Georgina Baillie — who was at the centre of the phone storm.
He told the audience in West Hollywood: “Burlesque and erotica – I’ve been rethinking it of late.” "

Disney Online Releases New Developer Diary and Lore Journal for Pirates of the Caribbean Online

"In celebration of the upcoming 1st anniversary of Pirates of the Caribbean Online (October 31st), Disney Online has released a new Developer Diary from Greg Wiatroski as well as a new Lore Journal entry at www.PiratesOnline.com (see Developer Diary below).
Over the past year, Pirates of the Caribbean Online players have seen the introduction of new features like Privateering, high-level ghost ships, powerful new weapons, creepy new enemies, informative Game Masters, Web site polls, blogs, and more. In the months ahead, Disney Online will make some major changes to www.PiratesOnline.com, plus add new game features that will make the Pirates Online experience more exciting than ever!

Zac Efron NOT in Pirates 4

"This past week, a story that originated in “The National Enquirer” began picking up steam across the net, finding its way into British tabloids by the truckload: 21-year-old “High School Musical” star Zac Efron was set to star in “Pirates of the Caribbean 4” alongside Johnny Depp.
It all made too much sense: Efron was a Disney star, “Pirates” was a Disney franchise. Efron was leaving “HSM,” Disney didn’t want him out of their grasp. And, I mean, if you can’t trust “The National Enquirer” and British tabloids, who could you trust?
Speaking to MTV News, Efron was adamant that the talk of his voyaging through the Caribbean was nothing more than a rumor. “No one has talked to me about it,” the “High School Musical 3” star insisted. “I didn’t even know [about it].”
That said, of course, the winking machine couldn’t help but smile at the possibility, telling us that just to be mentioned for a role was “awesome.”
“I didn’t know anything about that,” he said. “[But] cross your fingers for me guys!”
Although a foregone conclusion, a fourth “Pirates” was officially confirmed last month at a Disney presentation. Co-star Geoffrey Rush told MTV News last year that he thought it would follow Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa’s quest for the Fountain of Youth.

Zac Efron roped in for Pirates of the Caribbean 4?

"High School Musical actor Zac Effron has been roped in to star in the forthcoming sequel of the Pirates of the Caribbean 4 series, according to reports. The 21-year-old is said to have been approached to star along with Captain Jack Sparrow in what will be the fourth sequel in the series – to eventually replace Johnny Depp as the protagonist.
The young heartthrob has allegedly been offered 10 million dollars by Disney to share the screen in the upcoming blockbuster film series.
"Disney knew that Zac was reluctant to do any more High School Musical“He had already said there was "no way" he'd return as Troy. So the Disney brass came up with an offer he couldn't refuse," the source added.
Efron has recently rubbished rumours alleging that he had been asked to take over Daniel Radcliffe’s role in Equus."
